Patreon
New in 2025, I’ve starting a Patreon to make it easier to reach those interested in my work, and to provide educational content to fellow photographers.
As you know, social media has become a cesspool of AI, scams and sponsored content. Rather than rely on an algorithm that prioritizes high volume and cookie-cutter content, I want to use a platform that allows for authenticity and creativity.
If you want to simply follow along to see my newest work and some behind-the-scenes content, please join the free tier on Patreon! This will enable you to see my work without trusting an algorithm, and get you a couple nice perks too!
On the other hand, if you’d like to financially support the creation of new images and educational content for photographers, think about joining one of the membership tiers.
Benefits include discounts on everything from prints to workshops and 1:1 tutoring, access to educational content such as editing tutorials, cheat sheets and more, tips and techniques in advance for upcoming astronomical events or season changes, and the ability to submit images for detailed critiques.
If you’re a developing landscape or astrophotographer, I think this content will really help you.
Thanks for your support and interest – please reach out with any questions or feedback!
Workshops
Philosophy
My educational philosophy is that human beings learn best by thinking and doing, not being led around to pre-determined spots and told what settings to use. As a former teacher, I know how to achieve educational outcomes, so that you'll become a more capable photographer when shooting on your own after the workshop!
Each workshop is small, limited to no more than five participants per educator. This allows us to approach photography education in the most productive manner, collaboratively learning together.
Each workshop will include instruction, conversation and collaboration on subjects such as:
- finding and scouting locations
- planning general compositions in advance (such as aligning the Milky Way core with geographical features)
- planning weather, light and light pollution, including sun/moon timing
- your desired 'feel' for the image and choosing camera settings to suit
- making imaging choices and adapting to environmental changes
- composition, including finding and following the light, working with lines, textures, contrast and color, etc
- processing and post-processing
- equipment discussions when helpful or necessary
Equipment Requirements
Equipment requirements for workshops vary, but here is the bare minimum for all workshops:
- dSLR or mirrorless camera
- wide-angle lens (24mm or wider) and telephoto lens (70mm or longer)
- a solid tripod and head that you trust
- sufficient batteries for 4+ hours of shooting per day, or a way to charge in the field
- polarizing filter and 3-stop ND filter
- waterproof shoes/boots

1:1 Processing Tutoring
Comfortable behind the camera, but not as comfortable with post-processing? Good at global edits, but not as comfortable shaping light to guide the viewer through the scene? Unsure of how to get the most detail out of your astrophotography images?
I can help!
I offer 1:1 tutoring using:
- Lightroom
- Photoshop
- Pixinsight
I can guide you through processing your own images all remotely via Zoom. Every session is also recorded so you can review it at any time!
